| Hi JK,
This setting determines the bandwidth over which the particular metric (SPL, C50, %ALcons, etc.) is calculated and mapped. It has nothing to do with the actual space.
If you have a sound level meter in the actual space & set it to measure the SPL in the one octave wide band centered at 1 kHz you will measure a certain SPL. To compare this value to the model in EASE you would need to select one octave for the bandwidth and then 1 kHz as the center frequency.
