Setting a default rear material?

Hi,

Is there a way to set the default rear face material to something other then ABSORBER so that I do not have to go back and change them all after the fact? Alternately, is there a way to do a Change All Same operation for rear face materials?

If no such options exist, what would happen if I were to just create back-to-back 2D faces in a .DXF model that were on different layers and assign them different materials when importing them into EASE? Would EASE detect that as a conflict or would it automatically combine them into a single two-fold face object.

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

I don't think there is a way to set a default Material for Rear of Faces. However, there are certainly other ways to successfully perform the operation you desire:

1. You could create an Object with the Faces (or other items, such as Loudspeakers) you would like to have properties in common, e.g. the same rear Material. This way, you could edit all them with one click, via the Object properties (F4). To accomplish this, please perform the following procedure:

1.1 On the Edit Project window, activate the Faces you would like to include in the Object by clicking on each one, pressing the right mouse button and selecting Activate ( F8 );

1.2 After have been activated the desired Faces, click on Create Object from the Insert pull down menu and answer yes for the pop up question that will appear;

1.3 Now that you have created an Object, press F4 to see it's properties, or right click on it and select Properties (notice that a purple appeared after you have created the Object. You can select Objects by clicking them).

1.4 On the Object Properties, click on Edit tab. If Face is selected on the first pull down, you can see that their general properties are being displayed. If you change, for example, the rear face material, this will apply for all Faces contained on the Object. Note that by selecting Faces (Statistics) on the pull down menu you can also check the total surface area, absorption coefficients...

2. Another procedure is changing the desired values, e.g. materials, etc via Faces (or other items) Table.

2.1 Select Edit > Tables > Faces on the Edit Project window.

NOTE: be careful on not choosing VIEW > Tables > Faces, otherwise you will only be able to VIEW the table, you won't be able to EDIT it.

2.2 After the Face Table has been opened, select the faces you would like to change the material (by holding Shift or Ctrl keys and selecting them). You may find them by their material, for example.

2.3 Next, select Tools > Set Value To. Choose Rear Material on the list and taker the desired material. That's it.

Obviously the Object approach is much more flexible. You could even label the Object to, for example: Ceiling Panels

I hope this helps.

Best Regards,
Pedro
