| I've imported a project from Sketchup to EASE: it has no holes and the room is closed. Sometimes, when I'm closing the room, a message appears: "non zero surface integral"
At the time I'm doing a Ray tracing, all the rays escape and when I open the area mapping window it doesn't show any face.
I don't really know how to solve this problem |

| Dear Mr. Oriol,
Thank you for getting in touch.
It seems there are actually to non-related issues:
1) Regarding the "non zero surface integral", please see this FAQ: http://ease.afmg.eu/index.php/ea-faq-room-en/items/Non-Zero_Surface_Integral.html . You might also want to check page 63 of the EASE tutorial for more information about finding holes: http://www.afmg-support.eu/SoftwareDownloadBase/EASE/EASE_4.3_Tutorial_English.pdf . Here you can also know more about the Check Holes tool, available from the Tools top menu. It can be of great help to assist you finding the holes (I recommend using it to help you find and fix the holes manually - I don't recommend pressing Close Holes to close them automatically, unless you really know how to use that tool).
2) With respect to the rays escaping the room, it will happen if you start the ray tracing calculation with the option "Item > Use Selected Faces" active (and no Face is selected - "Item > Faces On" ). The calculation will be done considering your definition and will no find any Faces to hit. So, uncheck the Options "Use Selected Faces" before starting the calculation, OR check the option but also make sure ALL Faces are selected before the claculation starts. Only chose desired Faces after all calculations are done.
Does this solve the problem?
BTW: In the Area Mapping module, only Areas will be displayed. Open the Room Mapping module if you also want to see Faces.
Kind Regards,
Pedro Lima |
