Face Eclipse?

All -

I have been working on a very large EASE model. I've tried to simplfy it as much as possible - but it's a very large volume room with a lot articulation to the surfaces as well as varying finishes. So, there is only so much that I can do.

SketchUp was used to draw the original geometry and then I imported it into EASE. When I first tried to save it in EASE after the intitial pop-up message that it was 'checking' for holes, etc. I got a second pop-up message that said 'Face Eclipse.' What does this mean? I can't find any information about it. Eventually I just let it run what ever this is so I could do the evaluation that I needed to do (I couldn't do anything even though all of the holes were closed unless this ran).

On a possibly related note... the area maps that were produced all say "Warning - Rough Approximation Only." Are these things related or is the area map warnings a result of the Meyer speakers that were used? I've never gotten that result either.

Thanks!

The Face Eclipse message will show in large models with lots of faces. It's a normal part of the Check Data process and normally finishes faster than the message will appear, but in a large model, you'll see the message. You are correct, you must wait for Check Data to finish before you can do any calculations in one of the mapping modules.

The Rough Approximation warning appears on maps done in Standard Mapping or EYES using complex loudspeaker sources, i.e. .dll or .gll files, and that were computed using the AURA module. The caution exists primarily for Line Arrays, as the assumptions of statistical acoustics don't apply to line arrays and they are best simulated in AURA for most accurate results for calculations other than direct SPL, time arrivals, etc.
