| Hi,
Who knows how to reduce echo in my venue?
I've done these:
1. add some absorbent material to some walls.
2. add some more loudspeakers to increase direct SPL in order to mask echo
But the mapping shows echo, again.
I have to say that I use AURA mapping and check echo speech. Most of the audience area have numbers more than 1 for echo.
Should I check some other calculations for echo in EASE? For example should I check Impulse Response?
Thanks, |

| If you have echo in your venue, you could use diffusers on the walls.
Keep an eye out for parallel surfaces (make one of them diffusing).
You can also use the ray mapping reflectogram to find out where the echo is coming from.
If you are concerned about intelligibility, you could also have a look at the STI values. |

| Hello again,
How could I find where echo is coming from?
I did ray tracing but I couldn't find anything! I see rays but it seems they are coming from everywhere! How do you find echo? |

| Are you able to share some pictures or maybe the model itself?
I can't really help much without more information.
You could also have a look at the manual https://www.afmg.eu/sites/default/files/2023-11/EASE_5-SE_UsersGuide_0.pdf
Capter 13 Ray Tracing
on page 128
After running the simulation, look for reflection paths that arrive at the receiver significantly delayed (typically more than 30-50 ms) relative to the direct sound.
These are potential sources of echo.
Also what version of EASE are you running? |
